چکیده

This paper examines a variety of methods for extracting implied probability distributions from option prices and the underlying. The paper …rst explores non-parametric procedures for reconstructing densities directly from options market data. I then consider local volatility functions, both through implied volatility trees and volatility interpolation. I then turn to alternative speci…cations of the stochastic process for the underlying. I estimate a mixture of log normals model, apply it to exchange rate data, and illustrate how to conduct forecast comparisons. I …nally turn to the estimation of jump risk by extracting bipower variation.

Recovering volatility from option prices by evolutionary optimization

We propose a probabilistic approach for estimating parameters of an option pricing model from a set of observed option prices. Our approach is based on a stochastic optimization algorithm which generates a random sample from the set of global minima of the in-sample pricing error and allows for the existence of multiple global minima. Starting from an IID population of candidate solutions drawn...

Recovering Financial Statements of Oil Refining Companies under Free Market Conditions and its impact on the Assessment of their Financial Performance

The emergence of economic crises has forced countries to reform the development strategy with a view to improving economic management. The intervention of governments in the free functioning of the market to reduce social problems by paying subsidies in general and fixing prices have a lot of problems Which makes the information provided by the companies unrealistic and unviable. The most impor...

Closed formulas for the price and sensitivities of European options under a double exponential jump diffusion model

We derive closed formulas for the prices of European options andtheir sensitivities when the underlying asset follows a double-exponentialjump diffusion model, as considered by S. Kou in 2002. This author hasderived the option price by making use of double series where each termrequires the computation of a sequence of special functions, such thatthe implementation remains difficult for a large...

Implied Binomial Trees

Despite its success, the Black-Scholes formula has become increasingly unreliable over time in the very markets where one would expect it to be most accurate. In addition, attempts by financial economists to extract probabilistic information from option prices have been puny in comparison to what is clearly possible. This paper develops a new method for inferring risk-neutral probabilities (or ...

Identification of the underlying factors affecting information seeking behavior of users interacting with the visual search option in EBSCO: a grounded theory study

Background and Aim: Information seeking is interactive behavior of searcher with information systems and this active interaction occurs in a real environment known as background or context. This study investigated the factors influencing the formation of layers of context and their impact on the interaction of the user with search option dialoge in EBSCO database. Method: Data from 28 semi-stru...
